Here’s Paul’s first three tracks from Show 58

Cameo ~ Candy ~ 1986

It’s funny how you don’t always make connections about songs – I’m terrible with lyrics – I tend to like tracks because of the vibe – so I never really thought about the topic of “Candy” being cocaine!

In the UK it peaked at number 27, in the States it reached number twenty-one on the BillBoard Hot 100 and number one on the US R&B charts in 1987.

Bobby Brown ~ My Prerogative ~ 1988

“My Prerogative” is from the second Bobby Brown album, Don’t Be Cruel and was released in the States in October 1988 as the second single from the album. “My Prerogative” is believed to be a response to the criticism he received for leaving New Edition.

The song was nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best R&B Urban Contemporary Single. It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and the US R&B and Hip-Hop charts. In the UK it peaked at number 6 early in ’89.

Phyllis Hyman ~ Don’t Wanna Change The World ~ 1991

This track deserves a post of its own – stay tuned ;o)
