Taken from his 1978 “Mahal” album, written by James Mtume – reached number 44 over here where he was quite a hit with the jazz-funkers.


Esther Phillips ~ What A Difference A Day ~ Kudu ~ 1975

Originally a hit for Dinah Washington in 1959, Esther’s version made 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100, 10 US R&B, and 6 on the UK Top 40.

Richard Elliot ~ Move On Up ~ Artistry Music~ 2009

The man with the Zebra print sax – Scottish saxophone player, he was with the Tower Of Power horns for 5 years in the 1980’s. From his 2009 Rock Steady album his version of Curtis Mayfields Move On Up. Dedicated to DJ Lucky who mentioned Mr Ellot in the JFSR chat-room a few weeks back.
