Down To The Bone ~ Cooking With Gas ~ 2002

From their album Crazy Vibes and Things, from which I’ve played a few other tracks, comes another gem of a mover. In 2011 they play the Newport Jazz Festival and have a new album released.

I couldn’t find a video for this track – if you want to hear it CLICK HERE for our Podcast – so here’s a live clip to whet your appetite …

Shakatak ~ Mr. Manic & Sister Cool ~ Polydor ~ 1987

We seem to feature this band quite a lot, but with approximately 50 album releases to their name, I have a feeling there could be some more in the future. With a piano riff straight out of James Brown’s Sex Machine and slinky groove, this is quite compelling, don’t cha think? Number 56 UK

Colorblind ~ Crazy ~ Capitol Records ~ 1984

To end this trio, a more soulful groove, but still slinky and fluid. From their one and only, self-titled LP that contained just 5 tracks and was part produced by Rahni Harris, this had plenty of fans on the UK soul scene back then. A Quality track.
