great tunes from Show 82 …

Aretha Franklin ~ Freeway Of Love ~ Arista ~ 1985

Its pedal to the metal for an over abundance of good times and a track we first featured way back. Produced by Narada Michael Walden for the ‘Queen of Soul’, Freeway made number 1 on the US R&B chart, and 68 in the UK.

Sheila E ~ The Glamorous Life ~ Warner Brothers ~ 1984

The daughter of Pete Escovedo and famously percussionist in Prince’s band as well as being romantically linked to him. I used to play this #7 in the US (#9 R&B), to absolutely within an inch of its life. Oh by the way, it made 96 in the UK and then #97 on re-release in ‘85.

and live …

Midnight Star ~ No Parking (On The Dancefloor) ~ Solar ~ 1983

In the USA on the other side of this was ‘Electricity’, another big jam, both cuts being taken from the LP No Parking….. The band was formed in 1976 whilst they were at University and consisted five members.
