The Force ~ Rock Your Baby ~ Philadelphia Int ~ 1979

A single lifted from this 8 piece band’s one and only, self –titled LP for Philadelphia Int. It did extremely well for me on the dancefloors of the clubs I played at the time. The sort of disco funk that the UK really went for. Love it!

Aquarian Dream ~ You’re A Star ~ Elektra ~ 1977

From their LP ‘Fantasy’ comes this terrific slice of disco funk from the then 7 piece band, that was introduced to the record buying public by Norman Connors. It’s a shame this isn’t remembered quite as much as ‘Phoenix’.

Nick Straker Band ~ Straight Ahead ~ Prelude US/Firebird/Pinnacle Records UK ~ 1982

I simply love this track for its gutsy 4 to the floor stomping beat and the totally uplifting, positive message in the lyrics. Better known for the odd commercial pop hit, to my chagrin, this failed to light up the UK charts, except for the Disco countdown. Sob…
