Space, James Wells, and Cissy Houston, as played by Steve

1 09 2011

Turn Me On ~ Vogue Records France ~ 1977

A band that had one or two disco hits, this sounds like a more modern remix to my ears, but … it’s not, so I would have to say, this was far ahead of its time.

James Wells ~ My Claim To Fame ~ Pye UK/AVi US ~ 1978

Possibly my favourite Ian Levine production from his early days, before he went Hi NRG, this guy has a marvellously expressive voice and the Rick Giantos remix certainly helped it sound 100% authentic disco.

Cissy Houston ~ Think It Over ~ Private Stock ~ 1978

A sought after backing vocalist for many years, the disco scene gave her a chance to shine, this Michael Zager produced gem being a track I played and played, normally to good dancefloor reaction. However, she is probably most famous for being Whitney Houston’s mother. #32 R&B US
