Leprechaun, ROD, and Lenny Williams, mixed by Steve

26 10 2011

Leprechaun – Loc-It-Up Citation US.
Produced by Gene Redd Jnr. manager and one-time producer of Kool & the Gang and brother to Sharon Redd, this bubbly dancer found lots of fans here in the UK and is possibly one of those tracks that is held in even higher esteem nowadays.

ROD – Just Keep On Walking Atoll Music France/Prelude US 1982.
I always loved this track and a couple of others by ROD, especially for the pure joyous, infectious nature of them, that seemed to leap out of the grooves. Remixed by Francois Kevorkian, it was a big dancefloor hit for UK DJs.

Lenny Williams – You Got Me Running ABC Records 1978.
His recording career started some ten years earlier and would go on for at least another ten. With a voice that always sounded so plaintive and soulful, for a spell in the mid to late ‘70s it looked like he would really make it big as a solo artist after leaving Tower Of Power. #40 US R&B
