Al Hudson, Voyage and Ahzz selected by Steve

Al Hudson ~ Spread Love ~ ABC Records ~ 1978.
Once again something different from a band better known for the funk, comes this groove that could be straight out of Sigma Sound studios and on a Philly label. I find the breakdown a little awkward, but undoubtedly the rest of the track is super sweet and a fantastic groove.

Voyage ~ Kechak Fantasy ~ Polydor France ~ 1978.
On GTO records in the UK this was a track on their second LP ‘Fly Away’ and can also be found as the ‘B’ side to their massive hit single ‘Souvenirs’ on pressings from many different countries. They were a French studio band that found enormous success in the US discos and across continental Europe.

Ahzz ~ New York’s Movin’ (instrumental) ~ Land Of Hits ~ 1981.
Whenever I put on this track it brings a huge smile to my face. It just has a certain energy and feel to it. Don’t forget, Disco had died at the back end of 1979 in the USA and yet almost two years on, in New York, Disco was still being made and this is a classic of the genre.
